Editor's Note: You may be wondering why there is a video recipe in the yoga section. Remeber, yoga is not just about asana (the poses), it's so much more! True yogis are vegetarian, and one of the Yamas is "Ahimsa", which means non-harming and non-violence (to include not killing animals). So, with that said, this video is not only ADORABLE, but the recipe looks really yummy. It's only about 3 min...and it will definitely make you smile!! It's a 3 year old explaining and showing you how to make Vegan Pumpkin Cupcakes (real recipe you can use)...or as Petey says it, "Tupcakes". So cute!!!!!

Concentration is the sixth limb of Pantajali’s eight limbs of yoga. Pantanjali’s sutra’s define concentration as,

III.1 “When the attention of the mind-stuff is directed in a single stream to a chosen field without being dissipated and thus distracted – that is concentration.”...

Editor's Note from Lexi Yoga: The practice of yoga is an act of moving meditation. According to Pantajali's eight limbs of yoga, concentration is the sixth limb, which can be achieved through focusing on breath and movement in your yoga practice.

Editor's Note from Lexi Yoga: Depression is a common problem these days, and yoga is a great way to help improve your mood. The increase in physical effort, together with the controlled breathing and then period of relaxation, will help lower your heart rate and blood pressure, which in turn will reduce the stress response.

In August of 2012 at the Being Yoga conference at the Omega Institute, one of my classes, with Manorama, a well-known Sanskrit teacher focused on Yoga and the Inner Warrior.  She said, "Everyday we fight the inner and outer battles of life.  The yogi in training fights the inner battle..."

“Concentration is taking your mind off many things and putting it on one thing at a time.” – Ananda Sangha

Imagine what you could do if you could concentrate better. You could use your time more efficiently...

Editor's Note from Lexi Yoga: Many people feel distracted, and can't really concentrate on the current moment. Everything is so fast paced, and we are so over-stimulated with information in our hands... Yoga is a great way to slow down our breath, and focus on the present moment.

As we age, our bodies go through numerous changes. Senior citizens often face health challenges such as arthritis, which affects the joints and decreases flexibility...

Editor's Note: A great activity for seniors is yoga training. The gentle postures (asanas) and slow, centered movements of Hatha Yoga are the perfect way to loosen tight joints and relieve pain. Low impact exercise (and the right type of exercises) is crucial for staying healthy – not just physically but mentally and emotionally as well.

Modern science now confirms why humans have been practicing yoga since the beginning of recorded history: it is good both for the body and mind.

There is evidence in the archeological record that yoga has been practiced by humans for at least 5,000 years. Whereas this would constitute sufficient evidence for most folks to consider it a practice with real health benefits, as its millions of practitioners widely claim, skeptics say otherwise...

Editor's Note from Lexi Yoga: Yoga has been practiced for over 5000 years according to archeological records, and has been confirmed as a practice that can prevent and treat over 70 diseases. There is scientific evidence that yoga is the new medicine for the body and mind.

Editor's Note from Lexi Yoga: If you haven't already tried yoga, grab your mat, and get going! Not only will your outer body enjoy the physical benefits, but also your inner body too. Your organs and tissues will get nourished, as you twist, bend and stretch. Soon you'll be glowing from the inside and out. Check out the benefits of yoga in this video.

De-stress for a Happy & Healthy Life

by Yogacharya Dr. Ananda Balayogi Bhavanani

Stress is inevitable in the modern world because of the imbalance between the demands of one’s environment and one’s capabilities. Unless we develop awareness and consciousness of what we think, feel and do, there cannot be a lasting solution to stress.
