It’s no secret that our poor planet and all her inhabitants are treading the currents of unpredictability in a big way these days. I think it’s also safe to say that we’re trying like hell to keep our collective heads above water. While pretty much every system on the planet has slipped into a state of chaos, our response seems to waver between “oh sh-t” and “what can we do to fix our insert appropriate system here (i.e., environment, economy, oil dependence, political unrest, etc.)?”

Over the past year or so, I have noticed an ever increasing tendency of people wanting to discuss with me, a very serious and “dark” subject. With greater and greater regularity, I find myself in heavy conversations with clients, friends, fellow “seekers” and even complete strangers on the topic of conspiracies. I can usually recognize when one of these discussions is coming. There will generally be a noticeable change in the behavior of the person who is broaching this content with me...

Shamanism

by Dr. Steven Farmer
Cross-posted from www.Care2.com

One morning when I was saying my morning prayers, a sacred ritual I do every morning before I get up and get going into the day, I caught the flutter of wings out of the corner of my eye and watched as all of the birds that had been feeding outside my bedroom window scattered...

Editor's Note from Sue O'Callahan: I am constantly reminded that I am supported in my life's work and in life in general. I love the wonderful reminder of this article that messages and guidance can show up in so many ways. For me, they are especially magical when embodied by an animal.

Shamanism

by Llyn Roberts

Of many ways to perceive that are resonant with what we term the Deep Feminine, John and I learned the following strategy from a Maya teacher when leading a group with the Prophet's Conference in December 2009...

Editor's Note: A significant aspect to shamanism is the importance of perception. As we pay attention to our surroundings and the subtle energies of places and people, we develop and hone our ability to "see" with differing awarenesses, as opposed to only our physical eyes. ~ Lisa

Shamanism

by Peter Clark,

ATH Asst. Editor of Shamanism

So what is the current state of the world and how can shamanism relate to it? We are on a wild ride perhaps, with many twists and turns. On the one hand, we see our human created structures: financial, religious, political, health care, business, shaking and at times crumbling at their cores. And we see the apparent big time stirrings of Gaia in many places across the planet – perhaps in response to the increasing energy of the time, perhaps in response to what we have been doing...

Shamanism

by Shaman Elder Maggie Wahls

The key to living in this world as a healer is to incorporate our skills and disciplines into our hearts in the most impeccable way possible. It is not enough to have knowledge or good intentions. The Shaman strives constantly to be the most disciplined and the highest skilled hunter he can be...

Shamanism

by Julie Hoyle

In the yogi-shamanic traditions, the name given to holding a stance of ‘inner listening‘ is called ‘atma vichara,’ which literally translates to, ‘self-inquiry’ or the act of becoming aware of ourselves. Atma vichara is not about ruminating on a perceived problem and dissecting it to pieces. It is a practice of inner reflection in which we open to our own deepest wisdom and learn to trust it...

Shamanism

by Stephan Beyer

At the start of every ayahuasca ceremony, my maestro ayahuasquero don Roberto Acho goes around the room putting agua de florida cologne in cross patterns on the forehead, chest, and back of each participant. As he does this, he blows smoke from the powerful tobacco called mapacho into the crown of the head and over the entire body of each participant, and he whistles a special song of protection called an arcana...

Editor's Note: Stephan Beyer has had many incredible experiences with spirit by contacting them directly thru many time honored shamanic methods. Here he describes some of those experiences and gives us the wisdom he has learned intimately from them.

Shamanism

by Dr. Steven Farmer, PhD

By now there’s little or no doubt that we’re witness to dramatic changes in the Earth, and can expect these to continue for some time as the planet persists in its balancing act just like it’s been doing since its birth over four and a half billion years ago. In that time, the climate has changed countless numbers of times, yet here we are in the midst of one. It just happens that a few billion of us are living on the skin of Gaia and by default we’re all involved...

Shamanism

by Jade Wah’oo Grigori

I will begin this article with two fundamental descriptive definitions of Spirit and Soul. So very often I hear people speak of Spirit and Soul interchangeably; at other times I find that when discussing Spirit and Soul we are using fully different references, resulting in confusion...

Shamanism

by Lisa Meade

As CBS News corespondent Steve Hartman once said, "Everybody has a story." Each story is as unique as the individual. Some stories have mysterious twists and turns to the plot while some have tragedy, romance or wonder. They all have one thing in common. Nobody has to be defined by their story...

Shamanism

Forgiveness. At this time of the Winter Solstice there is a natural resonance that is resplendent with the song of Forgiveness. It is a quality of Spirit easily accessed, embodied, activated and experienced. Forgiveness is the key in which the song of life is sung at the Winter Solstice, just as Appreciation is at the time of the Summer Solstice...
