"Our task is to listen to the news that is always arriving out of silence."

Homeopathy

by The Daily OM

Of the countless forms of meditation we can use, journaling offers its own unique benefits. Most meditations help empty the mind of concerns and bring positive ideas from our mental landscape, but journaling helps us anchor that experience in the material world. Not every person is attracted to meditating in seated silence, and journal meditation is a nice alternative as an active meditation...

Meditation

by Joette Calabrese CCH RSHom (NA)

Listen. Do you hear that? Yes, silence. It's the quiet of a sleeping child without an ear infection. When Sophia awakens, the severe pain and fever will probably not return. Instead, she will assume her curious life of a cheerful three year old, likely not to be plagued with otitis media again...

Homeopathy

"What is Poetry?" I pose the question to my students, young women in their teens and early twenties. I am answered with silence. Seconds slink past. Finally, one student, who is meticulously made up from her mascara-ed eyes to her silver and blue polished nails offers, "I think it has to rhyme..."

Editor's Note from Barbara Lazarony: Tzivia Gover shares her first hand experience in leading writing workshops that are indeed not a luxury, neither for her students nor for herself.

Writing & Poetry Therapy

“I saw old autumn in the misty morn, stand shadowless like silence listening to silence.”

~ Thomas Hood (1799-1845)

by Coleen Ellis

This Buddhist statement sums it up… “Don’t talk if you can’t improve on silence.”

Whether it’s the fact that we are a society of human doings versus human beings or that we as caring individuals want to take the pain away from a hurting heart, for many of us sitting in silence with someone else is uncomfortable...

Editor's Note from Cathy Alinovi: Silence. Nothing is harder. But, silence is real. It means dealing with, rather than avoiding. Use silence to help friend deal with grief.

Editor's Note from Carol Lawrence & Stacy Toten: For those of us who start out thinking one thing and Voila! Bam! We find out another reality. We had the answers all along! We just need to be quiet and allow, to get out of our own way. The Boy Who Searched For Silence has a very compelling message and a wide range of emotions. From one extreme to the other.

Family & Parenting

by Katy Lowe, MH

Admit it, there is so much information out there in regards to Menopause.... however, when talking about Perimenopause symptoms, I feel like I'm sitting at the top of a roller coaster asking myself how I got up here, clinging with a vice like grip - all wide-eyed and facing the unknown.  I seem to be stumbling over yet another experience as I move through this point in my life...

Editor´s Note from Milan Perry: It can be confusing for many women when they experience hormonal changes of menopause in their life. Katy Lowe helps us to see that it is not abnormal to have little or no real knowledge of the list of possible symptoms that could be caused by this time in their life. For years women have suffered in silence or just took a hormone pill. I can remember a turning point for many during an episode of All In the Family where Edith opening talked about changes her body was experiencing. In modern times Alternative Therapies has definitely paved the way for change.
