From Andrea D'Amore: Wild caught salmon is a great heart healthy protein option and this way of preparing it is healthy and delicious. First, it is important that you obtain and consume wild caught salmon, as difficult as it may be with all of the farm raised fish available, it is worth seeking out...

I made this dish just last night for the first time, due to a large amount of mushrooms bought at a discount and needing to find a home. While I found that the amount of time listed for food preparation to be underestimated – it could just be me, I don’t wield a knife with the best of them and there’s a lot of chopping and slicing – this dish was wonderful and truly more than the sum of its parts.

Editor's Notes: As someone furthering their education in holistic nutrition and food theories, I understand the vast amount of overwhelming information that is out there regarding these subjects. However, the need for a balanced pH within the body is something largely ignored and I feel everyone needs to be introduced to this concept. The importance of maintaining a balanced pH level within the body is absolutely essential to the health...

These bars are wonderful. As someone who tries very hard to stay away from processed/packaged foods, but yet is always on the go, these are a great alternative to some vending machine snack or worse fast food. They also are much cheaper to make than buying high end, expensive and organic protein bars, which was a habit I needed to break for the sake of my wallet...

Editor's Note: Somehow making raw food snacks always used to strike me as difficult... and suddenly there I was in Whole Foods, shelling out 8 bucks for a handful of dehydrated kale chips. The ingredients are inexpensive if you simply have the recipe. If you also love those raw flax-veggie crackers but you want the how-to to be nice and easy this vid is for you! Get a nice dose of fiber, minerals and healthy fats and use up the extra veggies and seeds in your kitchen. These go nicely with your favorite dip.

Kale is one of the best leafy green vegetables, considered a star amongst healthy-eaters. It is loaded with nutrients including potent phytonutrients from the Cruciferous vegetable family which includes broccoli, cabbage and bok choy. Studies have shown that two phytonutrients in these foods, the Indole-3-carbinols and the sulforaphanes help prevent heart disease and cancer, can act as anti-inflammatories and helps our bodies slow down the aging process...

This recipe has replaced my Grandma's chicken soup as my favorite thing to eat when I am coming down with a cold or feeling under the weather. Ginger and scallions "release the exterior," a term in Chinese medicine which indicates that they open the pores and cause mild sweating, believed to help kick out a cold or flu bug before it takes hold. Peppercorns and onion are strongly warming, and will add to the recipe's ability to get you sweating. Dried black mushrooms are well known as a stimulant for the part of the immune system which launches an initial defense against an attacking virus or bacteria. Lemon or lime juice can help to soothe an irritated throat...

...I woke up two days later with a screaming sore throat, stuffy nose and no energy, a.k.a. a cold. Not in the mood to get sick, I looked around my kitchen and tossed together something that I thought would be better than Nyquil: Cold-Killer Beet Greens...

Editor's Note: I try to begin every year with some sort of cleanse. I figure it’s a great time to do something like this, seeing as though you may have indulged a little over the holidays. Now, there are some cleanses out there which advocate practically starving yourself for a few weeks, this is not the type of cleanse I am recommending! However, taking a few weeks to eat and drink nothing but raw vegan foods and fresh juices will leave you feeling incredible.
