Where do I begin in describing my accolades for “Women Who Run With the Wolves”? And more so, how it has enlightened my healing journey? As a Wild Woman who relates personally to the stories and messages in this book and Psychologist deeply interested in other’s growth and healing, I come at this review from an interconnection of both personal and professional. “Women Who Run With the Wolves” combines the infinite wisdom of stories passed along from generation to generation with the brilliant interpretation and sharing of Clarissa Pinkoka Estes, Ph.D....

by Robert Augustus Masters, PhD
Reviewed by Matthew Welsh

According to psychotherapist Robert Augustus Masters, PhD, spiritual bypassing – the use of spiritual practices or beliefs to avoid dealing with painful feelings, unresolved wounds, and developmental needs – is so pervasive that it goes largely unnoticed.

Robert’s new book, Spiritual Bypassing, casts a critical eye on our deeply entrenched misuse of spirituality, furthering the body of psychological insight into how we use (and abuse) our spiritual practice in often unconscious ways...

What does it mean to be awake?  What does it mean to be living?  What does it mean to truly be?  What does Buddhism mean?  Anam Thubten answers these questions and more in his new book “Embracing Each Moment: A Guide to the Awakened Life.”  Through the answers to these questions Thubten acknowledges that to be happiness is not found in out things, but lives inside each of us, waiting to be acknowledged.

Editor's Note from Janet Gillett: Anam Thubten brings what Buddhism and being in the present moment alive in his new book “Embracing Each Moment: A Guide to the Awakened Life.”  He guides us into a deeper awareness of understanding ourselves and our world.

Throughout the day, our minds are constantly on the go.  It is always sure to let us know what it is thinking and feeling.  Oftentimes, we preoccupy ourselves with our thoughts rather than taking time to focus on the task that we are doing.  We lose the simple pleasure of being present in the moment because we are too busy thinking about that embarrassing thing that happened or that event coming up that we are nervous about.  Very seldom are we focused on the actual task we are working on.

Editor's Note from Janet Gillett: In "Mindful Writer," Dinty Moore tells us how we can be more productive (and less stressed!) by focusing solely on the task we are working on and letting go of our judgments around that task.  We can embrace each moment fully by being more present in each task we work on.

by Stephan Beyer

In the Upper Amazon, mestizos are the Spanish-speaking descendants of Hispanic colonizers and the indigenous peoples of the jungle. Some mestizos have migrated to Amazon towns and cities, such as Iquitos and Pucallpa; most remain in small villages, their houses perched on stilts on the shores of the rivers that are their primary means of travel...

Editor's Note from Eden Kozlowski: I have to share this bit about our author, Stephan Beyer, here... as stated in the press release regarding his book, "An expertise in hallucinogens may not seem the most compelling resume builder for your average corporate litigator, but Stephan V. Beyer’s trajectory from a major Chicago law firm to his tenure as one of the world’s foremost experts on sacred plant medicine has been anything but average." If that doesn't pique your interest, I don't know what would. Stephan, thank you for letting us showcase Singing to the Plants on ATH.
