This is something that many of my patients have had to deal with. Yeast infections can certainly be a problem. When they are re-occurring, its a good idea to look into altering what you eat and into changing some lifestyle factors. In the long-term it is a good idea to find a qualified ND to help you. In the short-term, there are a few useful things to take that can help clear up an infection. First, using probiotics will be very helpful, especially if there is any history of antibiotic use. Many people also do not realize that birth control pills can contribute to a potential for yeast over growth. Diet and nutrition: Its a good idea to eliminate all sugars, dairy, and yeast-containing foods when clearing up a yeast infection. Taking antioxidants and essential fatty acids is also helpful. Support immunity: Drinking enough water, dealing well with stress and getting enough sleep all will support immunity. Also, immune supporting herbs and vitamins will be helpful Water-soluble fiber and milk thistle will support detoxification. Anti-yeast herbs such as oregano, clove, and others can also be used. Garlic can also be used vaginally to help kill of yeast. Usually inserted as a capsule, or even the stripped garlic clove attached to a thread/string for removal.
