What to look for in a Natruoapthic Doctor
I know everyone is getting excited about naturopathic medicine and they want to go find a naturopathic doctor to start seeing. I wanted to let everyone know that they need to look for an actual naturopathic doctor (ND). Some people are able to make themselves appear to be trained NDs, but they are not. Here is how to make sure someone who says they are an ND is actually an ND: They have graduated from an accredited naturopathic medical school. ONLY the schools listed on the CNME website (http://cnme.org/programs.html) are allowed by the federal government to grant ND degrees, and only graduates of these schools can sit for the national ND exams (NPLEX) and only those who pass the NPLEX are eligible for licensure in the states that license NDs. PLEASE NOTE: We do not have the capacity to police all the people who list themselves in the practitioner section of this site, so if they don't want to answer what school they graduated from, or if their school isn’t listed on the CNME website, DO NOT GO TO THEM FOR NATUROPATHIC MEDICINE! If you have questions, or need help in discovering if someone is who they say, feel free to ask here.
