More about Julie Cerrato, PhD, AP, CYT, CAT
Co-Editor of Ayurveda
Julie Cerrato, PhD, AP, CYT, CAT is founder and owner of Well-Being Integrative Health Consulting. Initially a cancer biologist, Julie’s Yogic journey began over a decade ago and has since led her to pursue degrees in Yoga, Ayurveda and Acupressure. As a scientist, Certified Ayurvedic Practitioner and Yoga instructor, Julie blends Eastern and Western medicine for a unique integrative approach to balancing health and wellness. She offers Ayurvedic consultations that draw from Ayurveda, Yoga, Acupressure and Aromatherapy remedies to help clients take control of their personal daily health challenges through manageable diet and lifestyle modifications.
As an Ayurvedic practitioner, Julie’s practice emphasizes ahara, dinacharya and ritucharya and has a strong culinary component. Her practice has expanded beyond classical Ayurvedic consultations to include short-course Ayurveda Cooking classes and a multitude of Integrative Health workshops. Julie has recently paired up with Whole Foods Market to bring her Ayurveda Cooking classes to their in-store culinary programs in an effort to further spread the wisdom of Ayurveda across America. In addition, she was recently interviewed by NJ Italian Master Chef Joe Leone on his radio show Culinary Conversations about Ayurveda and food allergies and is exploring this media format for future endeavors.
Julie’s Yogic instruction parallels her approach to Integrative Health with her focus on Whole-Body Wellness and the communion of mind, body and spirit. Julie teaches Yoga from an Integrative Health perspective, incorporating principles of Ayurveda, Ashtanga and Vinyasa with a significant emphasis on form and pranayama. She also uses her training in alternative health modalities to blend Yoga, Ayurveda Acupressure and Aromatherapy into her teaching of Acu-Yoga and Acu-Oil classes for a unique, well-rounded experience. She was founder and director of Well-Being Yoga hosted at Embody Spa in California and now travels teaching Yoga, Acu-Yoga and Restorative Yoga classes, operating Well-Being IHC bicoastally in the California and New Jersey/Pennsylvania areas.
Julie’s love of health, medicine and culture intersects largely with her avid interest in traveling. In addition to her exploration of South America, Africa and Asia, Julie has journeyed to India for professional training, including Pancha Karma Certification at AyurGreens in Kerala and shared her expertise at Dr. Shekhar Annambholta’s Medical Camp to treat hundreds of patients in rural India.
