More about Dr. Mary Ellen Coulter

As the study of how patterns of natural substances match those of individuals, their personalities and illnesses, Homeopathy has always made sense to me and is extremely interesting. I have been studying Homeopathy for 20 years, both the Classical and Sensation Methods, with a variety of teachers (Massimo Mangliovori, Lou Klein, Nancy Herrick, Roger Morrison, Sankaran and Jan Scholten). This form of energy medicine acknowledges how closely linked are human and environmental health - a sentiment reinforced daily in my beautiful home in the Pacific Northwest where I can enjoy the wonders of nature (jogging, hiking, cross country skiing and cycling). 

Drug therapy as a sole therapeutic modality does not resonate with my philosophy of healing. As such, I feel blessed to have Homeopathy and other types of Integrative Medicine available to support the body to heal itself. Recently, I attended an Integrative Medicine conference (SIMPLE) in Albequerque, New Mexico, which demonstrated how Holistic Therapies can be incorporated into our health care practices and is surely, the wave of the future. During medical school, I was fortunate to spend almost three months in Kenya, which gave me an enormous appreciation of how fortunate many of us are in the US. In 2008 and 2009, I spent additional time in Kenya practicing Homeopathy and aiding a Maasai village in setting up a non-profit organization that supported a school, well and micro-businesses. My most recent trip to practice and teach medical students in a small village in Uganda (non-profit - engeye) sponsored by Albany Medical College can be read about here. One of my favorite overseas experiences was working with a Maori population in KawaKawa, New Zealand.
