The Next Evolution
by Valerie Goodman
"All religions, arts and sciences are branches of the same tree." ~Albert Einstein
Some of us have actually met each other in person; however, the majority of us have simply shared our energies in the cyber space of the internet. My passion is yoga… not just the physical aspect of it, but the true purpose of it… to unite. With the practice of yoga, one’s awareness of Self emerges. Over time, as the body’s flexibility improves, so does the mind’s ability to “think outside the box” become more pliable. It is important to also see that yoga not only has the power to unite one’s individual parts of body and mind with spirit. It has the power to unite us in a collective consciousness of each other. Perhaps, just maybe, that was the true ultimate purpose for yoga’s emergence thousands of years ago.
We are aware of the negativity that is exacerbated by the media, governments and certain groups. We are aware of the conflicts between countries. We are aware of the endless adversities that so many people face, either as a group or as individuals. And, I believe we are collectively growing weary of the increased intensity of violence and quest for control. Flexibility among nations appears to have lessened. Take the concept of flexibility down to the most basic of units, family, and I believe most would acknowledge this has weakened as well. Nothing is permanent; therefore, this can be changed.
It is and has been time for the human race to collectively evolve to the next level. It is time to evolve to our higher consciousness. Physically, we have evolved; mentally, we have evolved. Emotionally, we have evolved. Each trait has its benefits, but without the power of the intention to change… they will remain imbalanced. The next link of evolution is to rise above the Ego.
Collectively as a human race, with the power of kindness, we are stronger than any nation or government. Anger, fear, and lack of good intention feed the proverbial fire that can burn out of control if not doused. Apathy, distortion of truth, and greed are like the strong winds that make the flames expand. Lack of respect for life and self-consumption of one’s agenda is polluting our Earth to a level She has never seen.
Love, kindness and peace in one’s heart are the sources of water to put out this fire around us. It is simple, but it takes US as a collective group on this planet we share to make it happen. Set the ego aside for a moment and look outside the box you live in right now. If you are reading this, you most likely practice yoga. Make it your intention to inspire someone who does not practice it yet to start. Make your ripple expand by encouraging another to dive into the ocean of One. Be the ether, the invisible force, to help transmit the positive waves of energy so many need.
We all may be different in race, religion, status, etc; however, just like Einstein said… we are branches of the same tree. We share this planet. We do not own it. We are here to evolve while here… as One. Once this awareness of the necessary balance of elements in the nature of ourselves… air, water, fire, earth, and ether… is regained and practiced, the next evolution of mankind will be ignited.
How to start the evolution? Simply consciously practice the first law of life: Treat others as you would like to be treated. Simple. Think of the Golden Rule as the golden thread that links you to another and beyond. We all know the theory that a group is only as strong as its weakest link. Be a strong link.
Practice your yoga from the heart. The invisible, yet real energy extends beyond your body. Send out love beyond the walls you practice in. Imagine the power of this collective energy on the day enough people practice yoga to cross the tipping point to ignite peace. Imagine. Believe. Feel it with each breath… a passion for peace. Like Einstein wisely said, we truly are simply branches of the same tree of life.
