Hearing the Call Making The Declaration
by Carla Goddard, Msc.D.

Editor's Note from Sue O'Callahan: This article is an inspiring read for anyone in need of change or looking to live their bliss. Carla Goddard looks at the personal awakening and deep fulfillment available when we actively pursue our life’s work. She inspires us to connect with the inner drive that harnesses the energy to realize our soul's highest aspirations.

There are many times that we hear the call, the call to do something. It can be as simple as changing plans for the day to changing plans in life. The “call” so often referred to, however, is really about changing your life. For each of us at some point YOU have to decide what YOU want YOUR life to be about. Really about. There comes a time when you ask yourself, is there something more?

There comes a time when you ask yourself, is there something more?

What others perceive and think of you, no longer matters when you get to this place in life. The real question of where you stand in YOUR truth becomes the most important aspect of life. It really comes down to are you happy enough? Do you feel enough joy? Enough love?

Joseph Campbell shared that this “bliss in life is a choice”. If you do not make the choice to follow your bliss, then life, no matter how hard you work at it, will end up “drying up”; life will become unfulfilling with no joy. I often refer to the “call” as doing the pictures. Many times you have no idea what these pictures mean, where they will lead you to, yet something within pushes you to accept on faith that if you simply do the picture joy will result. The act of doing the picture is the adventure.

Yet, we each spend most of our lives in fear. Fear of becoming sick and dying. Fear of loss. Fear of change. Fear of what may be. Fear of what others may think. Yet, the greatest of all the fears and the one left unspoken is the fear of birthing.

Birthing.

It takes as much fortitude and strength to give birth to a new life, a new creation, a new vision, as it does to transition into death. Perhaps even more fortitude and strength is needed. To birth an idea, to nurture a vision, and care for it until it provides the fruit for tomorrow is not a simple nor easy undertaking. To be unable to see the next step, unable to see the final outcome, and not listen to the naysayers takes great depths of strength. So the fear prevents many dreams, many visions, to fade away dying a death of their own.

How many dreams, visions, wild songs of tomorrow have been left unspoken, unsung, never birthed because of the fear? Many spend time tearing their own self down to convince the dream it is for another, not for them. Reclaiming your dreams, your visions, your songs is reclaiming your awareness, your power.

This is truly the bliss.

There come a time in every person's life when YOU need to decide how you want your life to be defined.

A life journey is full of movement, full of actions, and full of adventure which can expand the soul into a new reality. As the emerging soul becomes aware of its authenticity remembering the birthing through time, the medicine and wisdom deep within is found. It is only when we apply the deep wisdom that we begin to expand into living a life of bliss.

Your choice, your intentions are the readiness to step back into the Divine presence of infinite love. But being ready, being prepared is not the end of the story. Many have become ready, they have prepared themselves; few will heed the call to push beyond becoming ready and placing the action necessary to truly engage in the call’s adventure.

The only way creation of change is possible is through movement. It is through action, through engaging the life’s pictures set out before you, that the creation change occurs. One does not have to understand, but have faith. One does not have to know, but do. The experience of frustration, feeling stuck, or craving and yearning for something is created when the call is heard but not acted upon.

Action precedes understanding in the spiritual. I dare you to take the adventure. Take the adventure on the blissway of life. Ask yourself what dreams are left unspoken, songs left unsung, and visions left unbirthed? Inhale deeply allowing the energy of life to fill you, giving you the strength of all of life, the fortitude of Mother Earth herself. Then declare right now, in this moment, I will speak my dreams, I will sing my songs, and I will birth my visions. I will engage in life itself.
