 Ayurveda Panchakarma

Editor's Note from Julie Cerrato: Panchakarma is an ancient and uniquely tailored Ayurvedic detoxification process. It is used to expel excess and balance the doshic energies of Vata, Pitta and Kapha from the body's channels. "Pancha" means "five" and "karma" means "action." Thus, Panchakarma refers to the five actions taken in the detoxification process. There are numerous variations of Panchakarma and several techniques that have been developed to purify the body. Kerala, India is an epicenter for Ayurvedic Panchakarma and employs many of these processes. This excellent video on Panchakarma describes and demonstrates several of these techniques. If you wish to try Panchakarma, visit our Ayurveda section and listings for the guidance of an Ayurvedic practitioner. Namaste.
