Sprinkle & Sip Chocolate for Breakfast Smoothie
by Sue Ann Gleason
Editor's Note from Natalie Duhamel: I LOVE my breakfast smoothies and I'm totally going to have to add this one to my repertoire. How can you go wrong when you start your day with chocolate? But don't let the recipe fool you - it's super- nutritious too!
This has been a CRAZY BUSY week. I love being a multi-passionate entrepreneur and all the variety that splashes into my life. But, I know I’m getting a little too busy when I’m spending more time at my computer than in my kitchen. Yesterday I decided to play with my chocolate for breakfast smoothie. I think I shocked a few of my fans when I posted this photo on my fan page. But seriously? It’s a delicious way to go green. If you’re new to my chocolate for breakfast world, I’m a self-professed chocolate aficionado. I find a way to incorporate chocolate into my diet almost every day. Okay, every day. But who’s counting? Today I added a different twist to my signature smoothie because I was in the mood for cinnamon. Not just any cinnamon. I like Vietnamese cinnamon. Here's the new variation. I'm calling it "sprinkle and sip" because I sprinkled cinnamon on top, several times. Enjoy!
Sprinkle & Sip Chocolate for Breakfast Smoothie
2 bananas (peeled, sliced and frozen)
2-3 leaves Swiss chard (no stems), kale, spinach and/or Romaine lettuce
8 oz filtered water
1 tablespoon raw cacao powder
1 tablespoon carob powder
1 tablespoon maca powder (optional)
1 cup frozen raspberries
1 ripe pear
Blend all of the above in a high-speed blender. Pour some into a “happy” glass, sprinkle with Vietnamese cinnamon, and sip. Delicious!
Oh, and I found a beautiful new blog for you to check out. Bliss Habits. Isn’t that what a “chocolate life” is all about? Following your bliss, leaving a luscious legacy and eating chocolate for breakfast. Have a delicious day!
